
Technical Training. While at Datapro Research, founded the Datapro Microcomputer Users Group, which brought PCs into the company shortly after the IBM PC was introduced, and provided usage training and resources across the company. Have also done extensive research on elearning, elearning management, and elearning tools.
Profession Development. Moved to New Zealand with the objective of improving the prospects for technical writing in the country. To this end, I developed a New Zealand chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), served as first president, and worked to create opportunities for education and professional development. Began discussions leading to development of a Certificate program in Technical Communications at Christchurch Polytech.
Companies and Partnerships. Created Sapphire Press (1980), a mail order firm selling music related items. Created Whakapapa Software (1993), a partnership for developing multimedia software. Created BJ Dooley Technical Information Services (1994), a company for development of user manuals, technical research, reports, magazine articles and other technical information items.
